The Ride-Along Problem

Ride-alongs are the most demanding training most owners run — paid for in the owner's own hours — and they still cannot do the one thing training needs most: volume. A rep cannot practice the close twenty times on a Tuesday from the passenger seat.

Honest first

What ride-alongs are actually for

Ride-alongs teach judgment: reading a home, a neighborhood, a couple. They let the owner see the real rep — how he carries himself in a stranger's living room. Sparring does not replace that, and nothing on this page will pretend otherwise.

What a ride-along cannot do is give a rep repetitions. He watches two appointments, maybe runs a piece of a third, and the homeowner never once pushes back on cue so he can practice the answer. Observation is not practice, and practice is where skill is actually built.

The split

What moves to the ring

The mechanical work of the appointment — the steps in order, the words at the door, the objection framework, the closes — is repetition work. That is what sparring is for: the AI homeowner pushes back as often as the rep needs, and every round ends graded.

Move the repetitions to the ring and the owner's ride-along hours get spent where they are scarce: judgment calls, real reads, and longer looks at the reps whose scorecards say they are ready for a harder one. The owner stops being the practice dummy and goes back to being the coach.

Keep the ride-alongs that teach judgment

Move the repetitions to the ring, and spend your hours where only you can spend them.
