“We Want to Think About It”

In pest control appointments, “we want to think about it” rarely means the conversation is over — it means the real concern hasn’t been found yet. Here is how the documented system runs it, in a pest control setting.

The scene

“We Want to Think About It” in pest control

Pest control sells at volume: many doors, many short conversations, and in-home experts presenting a service plan at the table. When the homeowner says “we want to think about it,” the rep’s temptation is to move on — the next door is right there.

The documented system says the diagnosis is worth ninety seconds.

The documented response

Same framework. Every trade.

The response never changes with the trade — it is the documented 7-stage objection framework: Release Pressure, Ask Permission, Gather Feedback, Isolate, Empathize, Respond, Re-Close. Don’t argue. Diagnose.

Release the pressure, ask permission, gather feedback — product, process, company, you — and isolate whether it’s the investment. In pest appointments the real concern is often small and specific: the schedule, the commitment in their head, a treatment question. Small concerns are closable concerns, but only for the rep who finds them instead of waving goodbye to them.

Documented response language
“Absolutely. Usually when someone tells me that, there’s one or two things they’re still unsure about. What part would you want to think through the most?”

How Spar trains this one

The pest control version, drilled live

Spar trains the pest think-about-it round at door speed: the framework, compressed but never skipped, graded on whether you isolated before you answered.

The full objection — all trades — lives at the “we want to think about it” page, and the pest control track is at Pest Control sales training.

Spar’s documented system is trade-agnostic by design: the published position is that the sales psychology and the rebuttals are the same in every in-home trade — only the examples change. This page applies the documented framework to pest control appointments; it does not present pest-specific scripts.

“We Want to Think About It” ends appointments for untrained reps

In sparring, the homeowner says it the way yours will — and the grade tells you whether you diagnosed it or argued with it. Train the pest control version until the framework is reflex — $29/month. Spar before you knock.
