Cold Door Knock Solar

A cold knock on a street where three solar companies already have panels up — and the homeowner has heard every version of the pitch.

The setup

Cold Door Knock in solar

Saturday afternoon, a subdivision where the roofs tell the story: panels on every third house, two door hangers already on this handle. The homeowner opens the door expecting the fourth solar pitch of the month, and the round starts there — cold, at the threshold, with about ten seconds of patience in it.

Spar's documented door system does not change because the product is solar: the Initial Pitch as one run-on run, the Transition, the First Rebuttal, and the 5 core rebuttals behind them — run word for word, ending in a set appointment with every decision maker present, not a number quoted on the porch.

What the round trains

Run it the documented way

The door itself: the initial pitch, the transition, and the first rebuttal, word for word — plus qualifying the decision makers and setting a real appointment. No in-home step is part of this drill.

The round trains the door exactly as documented: the pitch delivered as one run, the first brush-off reopened by the transition and first rebuttal, decision makers qualified at the door, and a real appointment set — today or tomorrow — instead of a porch estimate.

How Spar scores it

The scorecard tells the truth

Every round ends in a scorecard — your language, your move, and whether both decision makers stayed in the conversation. This round is graded against the documented door system — the pitch, the transition, and the first rebuttal, word for word.

The grade turns on the words and the landing. The scorecard checks the pitch against the documented language and credits one outcome above the rest: a set appointment with all decision makers. A figure quoted at the door ends the round the way it ends real ones.

The language scan runs on every round: the system’s words — approve, overall investment, work order, monthly investment plan, move forward — or the scorecard shows you where the wrong words leaked in.

This round is Round 1 in Fight Camp — and Round 1 is free: the Cold Door Knock round, the Trial Closes drill, and Word Check are free on the Fight Camp page. The full camp unlocks with membership.

Go deeper: the full objection — “Not Interested” at the door; the deep dive — Canvassing — the documented door system; this trade’s other drill — Price Objection; the Solar track — Solar sales training.

Spar’s documented system is trade-agnostic by design: the published position is that the sales psychology and the rebuttals are the same in every in-home trade — only the examples change. This page runs Spar’s documented rounds in a solar setting; it does not present solar-specific scripts.

The cold door knock is a round, not a surprise

In sparring, the homeowner pushes back the way yours will — talks back, interrupts, pushes on the money — and the scorecard grades the run against the documented system. Train the solar version until the response is reflex — $29/month. Spar before you knock.
