“Not Interested”

In HVAC appointments, “not interested” rarely means the conversation is over — it means the real concern hasn’t been found yet. Here is how the documented system runs it, in a HVAC setting.

The scene

“Not Interested” in HVAC

HVAC is sold from trucks more than doors — but the in-home system’s door discipline applies wherever the first conversation happens, and the first sentence is usually the same: “Not interested.”

It is a reflex, and the documented system answers reflexes with pictures.

The documented response

Same framework. Every trade.

The response never changes with the trade — it is the documented 7-stage objection framework: Release Pressure, Ask Permission, Gather Feedback, Isolate, Empathize, Respond, Re-Close. Don’t argue. Diagnose.

Paint the Picture: measurements taken, questions answered, the exact measurements and the overall investment left in writing, that investment honored whenever they’re ready — free, no obligation, from a company already in the neighborhood. The homeowner is not being asked to replace a system. They’re being asked to accept information about the one they have. Small, bounded, concrete — the three things a reflex can’t argue with.

Documented response language
“So all we are going to do when we come out is take some measurements, answer any questions you might have, and leave you with the exact measurements, the overall investment, and our number — that’s it. And WHENEVER you decide you’re ready, give us a call and we will honor that same investment.”

How Spar trains this one

The HVAC version, drilled live

Spar’s Cold Door Knock grades Paint the Picture in every trade, HVAC included — because the first thirty seconds decide whether there’s an appointment at all.

The full objection — all trades — lives at the “not interested” page, and the HVAC track is at HVAC sales training.

Spar’s documented system is trade-agnostic by design: the published position is that the sales psychology and the rebuttals are the same in every in-home trade — only the examples change. This page applies the documented framework to HVAC appointments; it does not present HVAC-specific scripts.

“Not Interested” ends appointments for untrained reps

In sparring, the homeowner says it the way yours will — and the grade tells you whether you diagnosed it or argued with it. Train the HVAC version until the framework is reflex — $29/month. Spar before you knock.
