Core rebuttals vs. advanced rebuttals — what’s the difference?

Core rebuttals answer the generic pushback every door gives you; advanced rebuttals answer the specific situation a particular homeowner raises. You run the core bench first — five standing answers — and reach for an advanced rebuttal only when the homeowner names the situation it was built for.

The short answer

Two benches, two jobs

The core bench (5) handles the shape of almost every first refusal: Paint the Picture — what the appointment actually is: measurements, answers, the numbers left in writing, honored whenever they're ready. Build Need — tie the stop to the specific issue you noticed at their home. Build Pain — the neighbors are seeing the same black streaking and green algae; you're making sure it doesn't go further. The Jones Effect — you'll be at the neighbors' anyway and can swing by. Ballpark Figure — at worst, the visit gets them a figure for the future while the crew is in the neighborhood.

The advanced bench (10) is a lookup table of situations: my relative is a contractor; I already got an estimate; I'm only interested in one brand; my spouse doesn't need to be here; I'm not having any problems; how much does it cost; any technical question; we're planning on moving; how long does the estimate take; do you need to come inside.

How it runs

Generic first, specific on cue

The training order mirrors the door order: the core rebuttals are learned in week two, role-played until they're reflexes, because the first pushback is almost never the specific one — it's the brush-off, and the brush-off gets a core answer. The advanced answers exist so a specific line never catches you improvising: the technical question gets deferred to the expert who stops by, the brand loyalist hears the similar-product answer, the “how much” gets the honest fact that the setter doesn't carry pricing.

Several advanced situations also live in the objection library as full pages — the relative who's a contractor, the brand question, the move. The door answer is the short form; the library page is the whole framework.
